ABOUT ZACH
I know firsthand how an education can change a life.
I was born to a 13-year-old mother. Through her love, her faith, and the support of the Virginia Beach community, I was given something invaluable: a chance. I’ve spent my life trying to honor it.
I started in Virginia Beach City Public Schools, went on to Tidewater Community College, and transferred to the University of Virginia. After graduating, I commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy, where I served for four years and learned leadership, accountability, and the value of teamwork.
When I left the Navy, that call to serve stayed with me. For the past four years, I’ve coached children with special needs in baseball and basketball, the work I’m most proud of and what drives how I think about our schools and every child in them. I’m also currently pursuing my MBA at UVA’s Darden School of Business, because I believe learning never stops.
I’m running for School Board to give back to the community that gave me a chance and to make sure every child gets one too.

My priorities are simple: supporting students with special needs, promoting age-appropriate technology, empowering parents, keeping classrooms focused, strengthening our community schools, and being responsible with taxpayer dollars.
1. Advocate for Students with Special Needs
Be a strong advocate for students with special needs and their families, ensuring they receive the support and resources they deserve.

Age-Appropriate Technology
Ensure technology in the classroom enhances learning—not distraction—by promoting age-appropriate use, limiting excessive screen time, and prioritizing student safety.
3. Empower Parents
Ensure parents have a real voice in their children’s education and are treated as partners in the learning process.
4. Keep Classrooms Focused
Keep politics out of the classroom and maintain a strong focus on academic excellence—so teachers can focus on teaching and students can focus on learning.
5. Strengthen Our Community Schools
Our district includes rural, agricultural, and suburban communities—each with unique needs. I will ensure every school is supported and every community is represented.
6. Be Responsible with Taxpayer Dollars
Ensure transparency and accountability so taxpayer dollars are used effectively to support students, teachers, and schools.
